white powder on garden phlox

my garden phlox have a lot of white stuff on them this year. what cause this? how do i get rid of it?

Doug says you have powdery mildew. This is very common on garden phlox and you can see what to do about it right here. And yes, the page is about roses but the treatment is the same. :-)
