SELF SEEDING PLANTS

Will cleaning up the perennial area in the fall limit the self seeding process of the perennials that drop seed which blooms in spring?

Doug says if you're asking me if the seeds produced by spring-blooming plants will be reduced by a fall garden cleanup - the answer is likely no. Those seeds will have matured and fallen into the soil much earlier.

The only way you're going to control those early plants is by regularly cutting off spent flowers and any and all seedpods as you see both. Stop the seeds before they get started.

Or maybe you want them in which case you should be relieved right about now. :-)
