how do you not water tulips when they are interplanted with perennials which do need water?

Doug says you do not water the perennials.... or you do water the perennials and expect the tulips to fade away after a year or two.

There's no magic here - too much water is going to kill the tulips - period.

You get to make a choice - sorry.
