Perennial pink carnation

by Gail
(Norfolk, Va)

My pink carnation plants I planted in early May have only bloomed once I have ferterlized etc. I live in Norfolk, Va.
What could be the cause for this. They get full Sun.

Doug says they usually only bloom once (most varieties anyway). If you shear them back - cut the foliage tops off about half way back - you might find they'll rebloom. But generally, you get one flush and that's about it for the perennial carnation types. Deadheading may also extend that flowering span a bit.
