Pampas grass hardiness

by Jacqueline
(New Brunswick Canada)

Newbie gardener here.
I recently purchased several packets of these seeds from my local store. My plan was to winter sow the seeds and plant them in the sunny ditch in my front yard, near the road and have a low maintenence, but decorative area.
I am in Zone 5 (the maritime provinces) and after reading your advice it seems this is not the place to plant them and they won't do well in my area? Is this correct?
thanks in advance!
Jacqueline

Doug says that's correct. This plant is not going to be hardy in your region. Sorry. You could start the seed and grow them in containers - simply protect the container from freezing solid in the winter but allow it to get cool (like a Carolina winter).
