Overwintering Blood grass

I had to put my blood grass in a pot up high because the @#$ groundhog ate it down to the ground in the spring. I have a small amount that grew well during the summer in the pot. My question is can I leave it in the pot to overwinter - either in a shed or in a utility closet with a window - and should I water it during the winter; or should I replant it in the garden?
Doug says that Blood Grass is a tender plant that I've written about here.
If this were my plant, I'd be putting it into the ground because the cold-hardiness range is USDA 6 (give or take) but overwintering without protection in a pot is asking for dead grass in the spring.
