Lily of the Valley

My lily of the valley comes up every year but I get very few flowers. I planted it abut 6 years ago in a morning sun, afternoon shade location.
Doug says the light sounds OK - assuming that morning sun means 4 hours or so. The other major issue is a lack of water - or uneven moisture. This plant prefers a steady source of even moisture. The pips should be planted 2-4 inches deep (not at the surface as this causes overheating and water-stress). All that being the case, I have no idea why they don't bloom given the info you've told me.
