lavender pruning

I pruned backed a lavender bush in front of my house by 2/3 it was choked with grass and weed and died out my wife says I shoudn't have trimmed it back so much ,was I wrong?

Doug says that next time you might want to read the instructions or watch the video on pruning lavender. Taking 2/3 is pretty drastic on an old plant and while a very young plant might recover, an older plant won't have the juvenile buds that low to produce new shoots.

Lavender isn't a perennial. It's a small shrub. Treat it as a shrub and you'll be much better off.

So - yeah, probably your wife is right.
