How to make lily of the valley bloom?

I have lillies of the valley in my little shade garden, but they hardly ever bloom. Last year I had 2 plants with flowers, this year NONE! they have nice big leaves but no flowers. This is shady area, 2-3 hrs of sun daily.

Doug says if they have big leaves and no flowers, it's either because they're not getting even enough sunlight for lily-of-the-valley (depends what's creating the shade) or not enough water. If the foliage is big and lush (it's not a water problem) but it could be a too-much feeding problem. Ignore this plant.

I'm betting on too much shade but I'd want to know you weren't feeding them too.

I also have a nice lush lily of the valley ... with no blooms. It was in total shade two years ago and didn't bloom there. I thought it was a lack of sunshine so I moved it to a shade/partial sun area; again, no blooms. It is not over crowded nor over watered; I gave a small dose of 14.14.14 fertilizer in early spring. We live in Zone 8A
