How to keep daylilies alive in vase longer...

I inherited a beautiful daylily garden but despite cutting stems at an angle and immediately immersing in water my lilies' blooms fold in by the next day - never to open again. How can I prolong the beauty of my daylilies while in a vase? Thank you for any tips.

Doug says they are named "daylilies" for a reason. The blooms only last one day. If you ever find how to keep them blooming longer than their 24 hours, let us all know.
