Hosta's and Mulch

Is is alright to use cedar mulch with hostas? I was told you can not use cedar mulch with hostas. Is this true?

Doug says this will come as a serious shock to his hosta who have lived under cedar mulch for some time in their lives. Shhhh. Don't tell them.

Whoever gave you this bit of advice doesn't know what they're talking about. Of course you can grow Hosta under cedar mulch. :-)

I have gardened for several years and have always mulched around my Hosta's and they have done beautifully!! My son worked on his landscaping of his new home last fall. We transplanted Hostas around his trees and mulched. This past spring they came back and look amazing.
