hosta pale leaves

my hosta are about ten yrs old, but for the past 2 seasons the leaves have turned paper thin white and then brown. They come up quickly and get very large-bushel basket size--they are the all green varitity, I was going to pull them out and toss them, but they are so big and beautiful until they get get the see through white on their leaves. They probably get too much sun, so I am thinking it may be sun scorch, but why did it take 8 yrs to show up--they have not infected the other hostas in different areas through out my yard--help

Doug says it does indeed sound like too much sun. Why did it take so long? Who knows.
