Hens and Chicks vs Tulips
I have a single row of tulip bulbs planted along the south side of our barn. Immediately in front of that row I have "clumps" of smaller tulip-type bulbs planted. Each year, they are hardy and early-blooming.
At the end of last season, I filled in around the plants with hens and chicks to keep the weeds out. Now, this spring, the hens and chicks have filled in greatly. My question: will/are the tulip shoots strong enough to find their way up and through the hens and chicks or will they be snuffed out?
