Have I KILLED my hardy hibiscus?

I beleive I have a "perennial hardy hibiscus". My son bought it from XXXX where he works and gave it to me for Mothers Day. I live in Lyndhurst, NJ (just a little background info). The hibiscus has dull leaves and beautiful red blooms. I put it into a larger pot and added NEW soil (miracle potting soil)and water and its in the house until its warmer. Now my question: The leaves are drooping and drying up have I KILLED it? The blooms are still there and continue to bloom. Can you direct me to more information about this hibiscus?
Thank you so much!!!
PS I'm very new to the computer(haven't killed it yet!.

Doug says that assuming this is perennial, then the issue is with the watering and change in climate. Unless the tag however says "perennial", my guess is you have an annual as the perennials shouldn't be in bloom yet.

Annuals are another kettle of fish and require lots of water or the leaves will drop off. They don't like moving around and being stressed (like repotting when in bloom - heck, nothing likes being repotted when in bloom) or they'll drop the leaves.

Just water it and keep the soil damp. It may or may not live but watering is going to be the key.

Good luck
