Hail Damaged Hosta Leaves

by Lynda

An end of May thunderstorm brought heavy rain and HAIL which shredded the leaves of my hosta.
Will the plants recover this season or must I wait until next season for the plants to flourish?

Doug says that some will regrow new leaves and some won't - it all depends on the varieties you have. The practical answer here is to wait and see if they do regrow. If so - prune off the damaged ones carefully. If they don't regrow, then leave them alone and wait for next year.

Gardening is indeed a "next year" sport. :-)
