My gardnere just destroyed a bed full of ground cover we have had for 18 years. It is hardy with dark green leaves close to the ground and in May it produces 6 inch spikes of blue/purple flowers. We live in the northeast. I don't know what it is called any help would be appreciated.

Doug says it sounds like Ajuga (and get new "gardeners")
