Gardening landscape help for beginner

by Carrie
(Crothersville, IN, USA)

I have a 4x6 foot, with a little here and there spot that I want to put FULL SUN Perennials. I don't know were to begin. I don't know what plants to choose and how many. It is located between my two sidewalks and nestled agains the back patio. HELP I can upload a photo if needed.

Doug says that he doesn't do designing over the Net - not what he does. Sorry.

Having said that. There is a page on this site that lists all the full sun perennials.

Pick some that you like the look of - that you admire the pictures. Pick the flowers you like.

Read the info on composting because understanding that is the first real step in great modern gardening.

There is also a newsletter that comes every week that's full of gardening tips and has free ebooks full of beginner gardening advice.

Read the articles on design right on this site. There's a ton of good stuff there that will help you create a great looking garden.

Those are probably good starting points to learning how to be a gardener. I know it can be intimidating when you first start out and you look at the ton of info out there (hey, you couldn't read when you started school in grade one either) :-) Same kind of thing.

You pick a few plants, you put them in the ground and see what happens. You continue to read and experiment and talk to folks on the forums about how to garden and in a season or two, you'll look back on this post and shake your head at how much you've learned.

Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening - confusing at first but one of great beauty and wonder.
