Floppy, sloppy-looking blue lyme grasses

Last summer while having our yard redone, the landscaper planted 3 very pretty blue lyme grass plants. This summer they are not standing up but are falling over in all directions. I did neglect to cut them back in early spring. Could this be the cause? Also, can they be trimmed during the summer? Is there anything I can do to improve their appearance? At this point they are unsightly. I would greatly appreciate and advice. Thank you.

Doug says - this is one of the most invasive of grasses and isn't a particularly "upright" variety as the leaves tend to flop over. It is an aggressive spreading grass in my garden rather than an upright clumping grass It will take over your entire garden from three plants.

Any way to make it look better? Dig it out but no - pruning won't help. What you see is likely what you get.

Doug,

Thanks so much for your prompt response. Maybe removal is the answer. I've decided to give it one more summer and if it doesn't look any better...goodbye, blue lyme.

Thanks again for the information. It was direct, to the point and very helpful.

Sincerely, Kathleen
