fish in compost

Can fish and shrimp remains be successfully put in a compost pile? I remember reading in elementary school that the Indians taught the Pilgrim's to grow corn by burying a fish with each seed. I have never seen fish on a list of things you can put in a compost.

Doug says that these things can be composted for sure. The only concern you'll have is that the smell will attract "critters". So as long as the compost bin in secure, there's no problem.
