Droopy Spiderwort

Every year my Spiderwort plant falls down in all directions leaving an space in the middle of the plant. It looks sloppy and leans into my other plants. Do I need to stake it? It has never been divided either; how often should I divide the plant?
Doug says that this is usually a problem when the plant is allowed to dry out a bit. Keep it moist all the time and it will not droop as often. But yes, it does tend to get a bit floppy when it gets tall - fact of life with this beast I'm afraid.
So you can stake it or grow it next to a supporting cast that will keep it upright.
As for dividing it, every 3-5 years should be fine with this one.
