Deer Resistant Plants

The deer resistant plants listed below come with a bit of a warning. These plants have been identified by various sources as not being the favorite food of deer.

They do not repel deer so they are not deer repellent plants.

Now the interesting thing here is that some of these plants might be listed as deer food in one area but not in another.

So this plant list does not come with guarantees. :-) And yes, I’ve heard from many readers that write to tell me that such-and-such a plant is not deer resistant. While it may not be resistant in that area it is in another. Deer apparently do not have a common sense of taste. I will not modify the list to remove plants but I will modify the list to add a plant that deer will not eat in your area. Who knows – maybe you’ll help a gardener in another area. This always assumes that there is enough food for the deer and they are not under a population pressure situation – and are not hungry.

A hungry deer will eat anything
