creeping flox has brown areas
Doug says it's hard to know what's going on if I'm not there but generally, this plant will experience winter die-back and turn brown early in the season and you might only notice the damage after the early blossoms have finished.
If this is the case, then a gentle pruning (remove the dead and brown twigs) and removing a half-inch or so of the live, green stems will result in thick new growth.
If the dieback is because of too much water (and you have rotting roots) then there's nothing you can do to save the plant. A very gentle tug on the plant or examination under the stems will/should show you if there's general rot or just a bit of dieback.
Good luck
