Can I grow lavendar in Florida

I live in zone 8 Florida and would like to know if I can grow lavendar. I have sandy soil also.
Doug says you can clearly grow the tender Lavenders such as French. The English lavender is rated as a USDA zone 9 so you should be able to grow that as well. Enjoy them
