Area with no sun

by Maeve

I have a small corridor type space between garage and house. About three feet wide by 6 feet long. There is no sun and very little light in this space. At the moment it is very rough ground with a few wild ferns growing. Please advise what I should do with this area and if possible, what plants I could plant there.

Doug says that low light areas like this benefit from major amounts of soil improvement - lots of compost and organic matter. They are typically compacted from foot traffic and abuse and this fixes the problem.

As for the plants - see the lists on this section.
