White Angel Trumpet

White Angel Trumpet

This plant cannot be beat in the bed during the end of the season. All spring and summer it keeps growing taller and then within a few weeks is full of buds and then the bloom time is magnificent with a heavenly scent in the evening.

It is a perennial for me here in SC. This picture is of two growing over 4 feet apart and is about 12 feet high. There must be over one hundred flowers on these two plants.

Doug notes it is not hardy for him in USDA zone 4.

Angel Trumpet

I've had my trumpets for about 5 years in the ground, next to my house, in zone 8. A blast of water 3-4 days in a row, get rid of all spider mites. I have never used insecticides on it and don't need to.

Spider mites attracted to Angel Trumpets
by: Anonymous

I agree that Angel Trumpets do attract spider mites, however, all I do is blast it with water once a day for 3-4 days and they are gone. I am in zone 9 and my trumpets are going on 5 years old, they love mostly shade and plenty of water.

Angel Trumpet as an annual
by: Sue

I have had a salmon colored Angle Trumpet for years in zone 5. I planted it in a huge plastic pot which is submerge in the ground after the frost. It gets to be 8 foot high by the end of July and blooms like crazy. Before the first frost sometime in Sept. I cut it back to about 2 foot and bring it inside. The cuttings root very easily so I've shared it many times over. I also stick some of the cuttings in the dirt around the big plant to make it fuller next year. Be sure to use a systemic bug control tough because it is so sweet it almost always attracts spider mite. I wash the stems down really well before I bring it in and them spray with a bug control plus a systemic and it controls it. I keep it in my basement with a grow light and water every couple of weeks. After last frost put it outside again.

LOVE THIS PLANT

I love this plant and yours is just beautiful. I have looked for years here in CT and cannot find a nursery that ever has one.

as an annual
by: Linda B

Linda says to Doug, even as an annual it would be worth the effort. I would love to have you find out if your growing season is long enough to have them as an annual.
